Gretl - A Free Application For Econometrics
If you're an econometrician, you've probably heard of Gretl. It's an open-source statistical package mainly for econometrics. Its name stands for "Gnu Regression, Econometrics, and Time-series Library." Gretl is very versatile and is a good choice for those interested in using R to make econometric analyses.
GRETL is available for Windows 10, Mac, Linux, and other operating systems. You can download it for free using the Windows Store desktop widget or by clicking on the icon in the bottom left-hand corner of your Taskbar. In the search box, enter "gretl" and click the corresponding "favorite" button. The application should appear with a logo and name. If it's free, the button will be marked "Free." Click it and the installation will begin.
Gretl includes a user guide and command reference. The User's Guide contains over 200 pages and is broken into four parts. Part I covers basic gretl operation, while Part II focuses on the gretl scripting language and econometric methods. Listed below are some useful functions and features of Gretl. You can find a complete reference to Gretl here. If you need more help, you can contact Gretl's developers, and they'll send you the documentation you need.
One great feature of Gretl is that it is open source. The code is written in C, so other statisticians and econometricians can contribute to its development. This makes it a good choice for people without extensive programming knowledge, as it allows you to create user-friendly statistical programs with minimal effort. You can even make the program available to the rest of the statistical community. If you're interested in making statistics simpler, Gretl is a great tool to use.
